Kaffe ~ Romney x Merino ~ undyed ~ Dk weight ~ 205 metres (225 yards)

$30.00

Kaffe's yarn is a rich, dark brown skein with good bounce from a Romney and Merino crossed ewe.  Her yarn is a lovely shade of deep brown/black with a good dose of Romney traits : strong, squishy, and soft enough for some people to wear next to the skin.  Each skein of Kaffe's yarn is 205 metres (225 yards) in Dk weight, 3 ply.

Romney sheep are native to the marshy areas of England, making them resistant to the challenges that some breeds face in damp habitats.  They have a strong constitution and produce pounds upon pounds of fluffy fibre.  Combined with the Merino traits of fineness, Kaffe's yarn is a lovely blend of both breeds.  Not only do we have Merinos here at Gladsheim Farm, we also have several Romneys in our flock.  Both breeds are very sweet-natured and endearing.  While Kaffe lives elsewhere, we know that she is a personable and gentle girl.

A blend of Romney and Merino wool is suitable for next to the skin garments with an added feature of durability and strength.  Kaffe's yarn is wonderful for items that are well worn...mittens, hats, and sweaters.  Paired with Albatross' yarn which is pure Romney, the  possibilities of contrast patterning is endless.Y

Notes :

This wool was grown by a ram named Albatross on Loch Lamond farm in Alberta and processed at a family-run fibre mill in Rosebud, Alberta.  You can be sure that your yarn has been handled with love in all stages of its production.

Due to the slow method of transforming raw wool into yarn, each small batch is one of a kind and will reference the individual sheep who grew the fibre.  Please ensure you purchase the right amount for your project as given the nature of small batch yarn, there may be variations in fleeces from year to year.

Enjoy using this Canadian farm raised yarn from Kaffe.  We hope that the garment you create brings great joy and perhaps becomes an heirloom piece in your wardrobe.

Please understand that all attempts have been made to accurately photograph the colour of this yarn.  Due to the range of individual settings on computers, there may be unavoidable colour variance.
